Author, Sheree Fitch

The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour will be celebrating International Women’s Day on Friday with River John author Sheree Fitch speaking at their fifth annual Women’s Day breakfast.

The renowned Canadian author has been a groundbreaking force in the literary arts and literacy community throughout Canada and beyond since 1987. She is widely recognized as an innovative master writer, literary artist and inspirational speaker, whose body of work explores the human condition. Her lyrical style gives her a unique literary voice in her writing both for adults and children.

The NSFL believes empowering women and girls to equally participate in economic, social, and political life benefits people of all genders. It increases economic prosperity, promotes peace and security, upholds fairness and justice in society, and ultimately creates happier and healthier communities.

“This International Women’s Day, we are shining a light on grassroots efforts to advance gender equality and honouring women who are finding powerful ways, both big and small, to drive positive change for women in our communities” says NSFL president, Danny Cavanagh.

The event is being hosted at 7:30 a.m. by The Federation’s Women’s Committee at the NSGEU Building Conference Centre, 255 John Savage Avenue, Dartmouth,.
