The Municipality of Pictou County has denied a request to cost-share a sewer extension in River John with the province.
The Community Support Society of River John presented to council earlier this month on an update to the group’s project to build a food bank and health-care centre in the village. During that presentation, Alan McNutt told council their original plans to lease property from the River John Lions Club had to be changed due to a variety of reasons. Instead, the society purchased four acres of land, however that purchase would mean extending the sewer line or installing a septic tank. On behalf of the society, McNutt requested the county cost-share an extension of the sewer line of about 150 metres. That would mean roughly $30,000 to come from the county.
