Back to Back Shut Outs recorded for Pictou Maripacs Pee Wee B

Two exhibition hockey games held on Saturday November 13th and Sunday the 14th respectively against Fundy Division, Tatamagouche Pee Wee B team and the Pictou Maripacs Pee Wee B resulted in back to back shut outs for the Maripacs. The Pictou team played solid games, rarely letting up on the Tatamagouche team and only giving them fewer than seven shots on their net in each game.
Saturday’s game held at the Hector Arena in Pictou had the Maripacs showing a 6-0 on the score board. The first goal was scored with 9:15 left in the first period by Nathan Gormley, assisted by Briden Hawes. Second period saw action in the nets twice with two unassisted goals, the first by Gabe Falconer and the second by Gillis Cox. Third period was fast paced as Keigan Bailey-Malloy took the shot at 6:21 which netted Pictou their fourth goal. The fifth and sixth goals were scored by Drew Tooke and Gillis Cox respectively. Goalie Josh Sarson recorded the shut -out.
Eager for a repeat performance; Pictou took to Tatamagouche’s ice on Sunday evening, in a game that resulted in another shut- out, this time for goalie Nick Bray, with a score of 4-0. The game got off to a very fast start for Pictou as Tyler MacLennan found the net just 13 seconds into the game after a nice pass by Gabe Falconer for the assist. The first period was rounded out by a second goal for Tyler MacLennan with the assist going to Justin Gillis-Mansour. With a lot of passing of the puck during the second period, rarely leaving Tatamagouche end, Justin Gillis-Mansour, assisted by Tyler MacLennan and Connor Skrynsky ,was able to find the net to put the team’s third goal on the score board. The fourth and final goal of the night was shot just barely three minutes into third period with the credit going to defensive player Connor Skrynsky and the assist by Gabe Falconer.
The Maripacs efforts were rounded out by teammates Jesse Langille, Brody Murray and Liam Mahoney.

The next game for the Maripacs was held Tuesday, November 16th at the Pictou Hector Arena against cross county rival Pee Wee B team, the Thorburn Golden Hawks. Both teams played strong games with a tied score of 2 points for each team. The first goal was scored by Maripac player Briden Hawes just 30 seconds into the first period with an assist by Keigan Bailey-Malloy. The Hawks retaliated in the second period with an unassisted shot by Braydon Arbuckle. Pictou was able to pull ahead in the third when a pass by defensemen Connor Skrynsky gave Keigan Bailey- Malloy an opportunity to score the second goal. After a difficult struggle to hold them down, Thorburn managed to tie the game with a shot by Michael Green with the assist going to Zoe Lucas. Strong performances were given by Maripacs goalie Josh Sarson and Golden Hawks goalie Brayden Henley.
On Saturday, November 20th, the Maripacs played a nail biter against Trenton’s Pee Wee B team. Trenton scored three goals in the first 6 and ½ minutes on Pictou’s goalie Nick Bray. Ashton Forsyth scored the first goal with an assist by Rivaldo Yanes and Isaac Koehoorn. Chad Lumsden put the next one in the net unassisted, followed by the third and final goal for Trenton netted by Logan Malcolm with the assist by Zack Sheean and Mitchell Connely. Pictou was able to retaliate before the first period was up by taking numerous shots on the net. The first goal for Pictou was scored by Keigan Malloy assisted by Gillis Cox. Tyler MacLennan netted a double to tie the game, with assists by Gabe Falconer and Brody Murray respectively. It wasn’t until the second period that Pictou was able to pull ahead and lead the rest of the game with a score of 4-3 thanks to the winning goal scored by Briden Hawes and assisted by Keigan Malloy.
