Local band eyes spot on Vans Warped Tour

Local band Machete is hoping for Pictou County to come through once again as the voting capital of Canada.
The Pictou-based band is vying for a spot on the Vans Warped Tour at the Toronto festival date through the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands.
Interested bands submit at least one MP3 and a link to their ReverbNation website which will be linked to the battle of the bands website where people can visit and vote as many times as they want.
“The top 100 buzz-rated bands are reviewed by a panel of four industry professionals, and the the top four will be selected to play the 2013 Toronto Warped Tour show,” explains Machete drummer Eli Hollett.
Judges of the competition are Mike Shea, CEO and founder of Alternative Press Magazine, Lou Plaia, Co-Founder/EVP Artist & Music Industry Relations, ReverbNation Kevin Lyman, producer and creator of the Vans Warped Tour, and John Fledman, founder of Goldfinger. The top 100 artist from each tour stop will be eligible to win a slot to play live. The grand prize winning band will receive a three-song EP with John Feldman, a $15,000 Guitar Center shopping spree, feature in Alternative Press Magazine, a two-week slot on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour, a PA System from Electro-Voice and an apparel package from Vans.
The four finalists will receive a one-week slot on the 2014 Vans Warped Tour, recording gear from Apogee, TC Electronics Effects package and a one-year endorsement from Ernie Ball/Music Man while the remaining 160 winning bands will receive a slot on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour.
Macehte’s buzz rating is currently at 71.5 per cent of 100 per cent and have grazed the top 10 and they are asking your help to continue to make that buzz rating climb for the chance of a lifetime.
“Song plays, facebook likes, and twitter followers also play into the buzz rating,” explains Hollett. “So visit Machete on Facebook or @macheteattitude on Twitter.”
The Toronto show is on July 5 so voting for that show will wrap up around mid June, approximately three weeks before the show date according to Hollett.
Machete is also preparing to enter the studio to begin recording their newest album.
“We hope people will check us out and vote,” says Hollett. “It would be an amazing opportunity.”
