Woman dies in motor vehicle crash

Pictou County District RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision in Central West River on Tuesday.
At 1 p.m. July 24, members of the Pictou County District RCMP responded to a 911 call of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway # 4 near Central West River.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, was travelling westbound on highway #4 when it veered off the road over a steep embankment and struck a concrete culvert. Emergency personnel used the Jaws of Life to remove the adult female, who was the lone occupant, from the vehicle.
The driver was transported to Aberdeen Hospital where she died of injuries sustained in the collision. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of the next of kin.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
