February 14 was not all sunshine and hearts for a Pictou County man.
Chris Falconer, 29, had his parole revoked by the Parole Board of Canada after being arrested Nov. 9 for a parole violation.
Falconer was serving a life sentence after being convicted in the murder of a cab driver in Heathbell in 1998. He was granted full parole in May 2011, but was picked up by New Glasgow Police Service in November when police found marijuana, a knife and a .22 calibre magazine with .22 calibre bullets. Falconer claims he had them because he was considering suicide.
The parole board, in a prepared report, stated Falconer’s ability to cope with parole was no longer manageable, leading to their revoking of it.
When Falconer was arrested in November, RCMP and New Glasgow Police Service were conducting ongoing investigations relating to two unconnected homicides in the county.
Rumours were abound that Falconer was connected to the homicide of Amber Kirwan whose body was found in Heathbell Nov. 5, but authorities will not comment as to whether he is a person of interest in the case.
