LISMORE – The 15th annual Lismore Wintertime Revue Dinner Theatre has been scheduled for March 9 to 11 at the Lismore Community Centre.
The revue has become noted as an achievement for a small rural community due to the enormous passion and talent displayed by its cast of local residents.
More than surviving the test of time, the dinner theatre has thrived, while the cast continues to play to sold-out audiences, year after year.
What delights their audiences, causing them to come back again and again, varies from the skits which cast a menacing poke at politicians, to a takeoff from some of the popular television shows of days gone by.
Others attribute the event’s appeal to its rousing musical numbers.
“The entire community is involved in this annual production,” says Don Butler, one of the cast members.
“The writer, directors and actors all come from the community. So do the cooks, the people who serve the meal, prepare the vegetables and do the clean up.”
Over the past 15 years this show has earned almost $100,000 for the hall.
Thanks to the show and the co-operative efforts of the entire community, the Lismore hall functions as one of the busiest in all of Nova Scotia, Butler says.
Tickets for the 2012 show will go on sale at the Lismore Hall on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. until noon.
Many of the tickets will be sold that day with the remaining ones going in the following week. First preference is given to those who pick up their tickets on the 18th.
For those wishing to call thereafter, they can contact Don Butler at 926-2589.
